Nicole Foy is the Central Valley reporter for the California Divide team. She returned home to the Central Valley in 2022 after several years as an investigative reporter in Texas and Idaho, focusing on Latino communities, agriculture and inequity. While in Idaho, she was a 2020 Community Impact Fellow for Stanford University’s John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship program, leading a bilingual COVID-19 reporting collaborative. She graduated from Biola University and is the co-founder of Voces Internship of Idaho, which places Idaho Latino students in paid newsroom internships.

Using research, interviews, documents and data, we scout out the truth to write stories that build an informed electorate with the power to create educated change for our community.

Annelise began writing news and opinion pieces for A News Cafe. After two years of investigating and reporting with the Shasta Country Grand Jury, it convinced her that the public needs access to more complex and diverse local news stories.

Wendy Fry has covered Tijuana, greater Baja California and border issues at The San Diego Union-Tribune. She worked at the newspaper from 2009 to 2012, and worked at NBC San Diego from 2013 to 2018 before returning to the paper. Wendy won SPJ’s Sol Price Award for Responsible Journalism in 2012 for her coverage of corruption at the Sweetwater schools, and she won the Grand Golden Watchdog Award from the San Diego County Taxpayers Association in 2017.

Ariel Gans is a political reporting intern focusing on the 2022 election cycle. She recently got her master’s of journalism from Northwestern University, where she specialized in politics, policy, and foreign affairs reporting. A Chicago transplant, Ariel has written for USA Today, MarketWatch, OpenSecrets, and Inside Climate News among other publications.
