Four new gray wolf packs in California | Cal OES disaster summit in Chico | Flu vaccine clinics start to roll out
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has found four new gray wolf packs in California in addition to three existing packs in Lassen, Plumas and Siskiyou counties. Also, a disaster summit will be held by Cal OES this Friday in Chico to increase community understanding of emergency response systems, and local public health departments are starting to schedule flu vaccine clinics as flu season nears.

Karuk Tribe connecting communities with broadband | 14 CapRadio board members resign | Newsom signs law to increase paid sick leave days
Many rural communities in the North State have poor or no internet service. NSPR looks into how the Karuk Tribe in Humboldt County is responding to this crisis. Also, more than a dozen CapRadio board members resigned effective immediately Wednesday night following a devastating audit, and California Governor Gavin Newsom signed 16 new bills into law yesterday, one of which now guarantees a minimum of five days of paid sick leave for employees in the state.

Amidst allegations that a member of the Chico City Council violated the Brown Act, an ACLU attorney explains the law and the rights it affords to the public. Also, snow and gusty winds have prompted a winter weather advisory for many mountainous areas of the North State through this afternoon, and Yuba City is looking for a local artist to create a ‘Welcome’ sign for the city that will be placed at key entry points and replace older signs.

Chico considers closing roads to cars in Lower Bidwell Park | Pride Month to be celebrated in Chico with events | California is struggling to find firefighters
Whether to close roads around Lower Bidwell Park to vehicles on certain days will be considered by the Chico City Council tomorrow. Also, June 1 officially kicks off Pride Month. Chico will join the celebration with many events, and California is having difficulty finding enough firefighters this year.

Arson suspect in Bidwell Mansion fire changes plea | Chico joins protesters across the country to oppose Trump Administration | Recovery plan out for Bidwell Mansion
Kevin Alexander Carlson entered a no contest plea today to felony arson charges stemming from the Bidwell Mansion fire in December. Also, protesters in Chico were some of thousands of people who marched nationally this week to oppose recent policies from the Trump Administration, and State Parks said there will be three phases of recovery for the Bidwell Mansion at this week’s Chico City Council meeting.

Record Number Of Miles Driven In U.S. Last Year
