Wet weather brings flooding concerns to the North State

The National Weather Service is forecasting a short break in wet weather Wednesday before a moderately strong warm atmospheric river system arrives Thursday night into Friday. This warmer storm will bring rain to the foothills and mountains atop recent snowpack, raising the potential for flooding.

Health workers enroll newly eligible undocumented adults in Medi-Cal

Health workers are fanning out across California to persuade older adults without legal residency to enroll in Medi-Cal, the state’s Medicaid program. Officials say they don’t know how many more older adults without legal residency may be eligible since California opened the safety-net program to those 50 and older last May, regardless of immigration status.

Lawmakers propose legislation to crack down on hidden fees

After fans across the nation struggled to buy tickets to see artists like Taylor Swift and Beyonce, lawmakers are introducing bills to crack down on price gouging and hidden fees. State lawmakers are also pushing bills to crack down on hidden fees on hotels, car rentals, and small business loans.

Tourist destination explores allowing cannabis lounges

Cannabis lounges could soon be opening in one of California’s most popular tourist areas. The Monterey County Board of Supervisors discussed allowing on-site consumption businesses. State law allows for limited on-site consumption with permits and city approvals.
