After the earthquake in Haiti, American Airlines canceled its flights to and from Toussaint L'Ouverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince. Today, the carrier announced that it will resume those flights, beginning on Friday, Feb. 19.
"The first flight will depart from American's hub at Miami International Airport at 6:40 a.m. EST, arriving at Port-au-Prince at 8:35 a.m. EST," American Airlines said, in a statement, released this morning.
There are plans to expand service to other American airports, including Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport. American Airlines will also have routes to and from Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, Las Americas International Airport and Santiago International Airport.
At present, flights aren't cheap. A one-way ticket from JFK to Port-au-Prince, leaving on Friday morning, is going for $1,651.
