Assembly District 3 will see a November runoff between Republican Incumbent James Gallagher and Democrat Edward Ritchie. The Third Assembly District covers much of the interior North Valley: Yuba, Tehama, Sutter and Glenn counties, as well as most of Butte County and part of Colusa County.

Assembly District 1 covers Siskiyou, Shasta, Plumas, Lassen, Nevada, Sierra and Modoc Counties, plus parts of Butte and Placer Counties. Assemblyman Brian Dahle ran unopposed.

District 2 also had an unopposed race. Jim Wood should continue to represent Trinity, Humboldt, Mendocino and Del Norte counties, and part of Sonoma County.

In the State Senate, odd districts are up for reelection. The first Senate District is composed of Shasta, Lassen, Siskyou, Plumas, Alpine, El Dorado, Modoc, Nevada and Sierra counties, and parts of Placer and Sacramento counties. Republican Incumbent Ted Gaines will face Democrat Rob Rowen in November.
