The #CampFire has burned through 153, 336 acres and that is where it will stand as the fire is now 100 percent contained. More than 19,000 structures were destroyed. The number of unaccounted for persons has decreased to 475 and the total number of fatalities now stands at 85. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
As of yesterday afternoon, authorities announced they’ll consolidate all evacuees into the Butte County Fairgrounds in Gridley and the Glenn County Fairgrounds in Orland. Officials have begun relocating those from Bidwell Junior High in Chico, and the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds, to the Butte County Fairgrounds. Evacuees staying at the Neighborhood Church and Church of the Nazarene will also be moved; officials are still working out the details.
Authorities lifted evacuation orders for both the Berry Creek Zone B and Cherokee Zone B yesterday. Residents with identification are being allowed back into the areas. Non-residents and those without ID may enter both areas beginning today at three.
Pacific Gas & Electric said it has restored natural gas service to the Paradise Town Hall and the Police Station, using temporary tanks, and that electrical service has resumed in Stirling City, Forest Ranch, Butte Meadows, Butte Valley and parts of Big Bend and Magalia.
The Evacuation Disaster Recovery Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the former Sears store in the Chico Mall at 1982 East 20th street and another Disaster Recovery Center has opened in Oroville at 2140 Feather River Boulevard, open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
