Nexo Entre Raíces | Nexus Between Roots

This exhibit presents a compelling print portfolio by 33 contemporary printmakers. Working on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border, these artists explore the profound influence of cultural roots on identity.
An opening reception and artist talk will be held on Thursday with artist Marco Sánchez. Sánchez, a visual artist, educator and curator, was born in Ciudad Juarez and is based in El Paso, Texas. He is also the organizer of the Nexo Entre Raíces print portfolio.

A loyal dog moves with his human, Todd, to a new place in the country, only to find out there are supernatural forces around. When his owner is in danger, the brave pup has to fight to protect the one he loves most.

Nashville-based TopHouse describes their music as "fast-paced, high-energy foot-stompers," akin to a blend of rock and old-fashioned bluegrass.

Hailing from Sacramento, the garage psych-punk band The Snares leads a Sunday Funday at Naked Lounge. Also featured are Chico's own The Wind-Ups, offering a distinctive lo-fi pop-punk style, as well as Chico's Shooting Losers.

Formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1988, Los Straitjackets are an American instrumental rock band known for their surf-rock sound. For nearly four decades, these legendary musicians have performed disguised under Mexican luchador masks and provided essential instrumentals.

Bonfire Storytelling: 'Big Night Out'

Bonfire Storytelling returns for its "Big Night Out."
The open mic story slam returns to Chico State's Laxson Auditorium, seeking audience participation to share their stories.
This evening's theme is "Busted! Stories About Getting Caught." Eight individuals will be randomly selected from a hat to share a five-minute story on stage.

Chikoko stages a semiannual event that highlights textile and performance arts.
This year titled “Beast” the collective will host its annual long fashion runway, a variety of sideshows and performances for an exceptionally stylish audience.

The Manton Apple Festival is this weekend. What began as a small "apple harvest" fair in 1992 is now a leading craft and art event for the small town. It features high-quality artisan crafts, art, food, and of course, a variety of apple-themed products, local apples and apple pies.
