Gridley CVS Now Able To Vaccinate Eligible Residents

CVS Pharmacy

Butte County Public Health released additional resources and guidance for those seeking a COVID-19 vaccine.  On Tuesday county health officials announced that vaccine appointments are now available at the CVS Pharmacy in Gridley as part of theFederal Retail Pharmacy Program.

Appointments must be scheduled in advance and are available to those 65 years and older and healthcare workers. Appointments can be made online at cvs.com or by calling 800-746-7287. Officials ask that those seeking appointments do not call the CVS Pharmacy in Gridley directly.

County health officials also responded to new guidelines from theCalifornia Department of Public Health (CDHP), which allow for people with certain underlying health conditions to be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine starting March 15.

Lisa Almaguer, a spokesperson for Butte County Public Health, said Tuesday that the county still needs more guidance from the state on this matter.

“BCPH has requested clarification from CDPH about how residents with qualifying health conditions should get approval as the CDPH guidance states that healthcare providers will use their clinical judgment,” Almaguer said.

Almaguer said that higher priority groups, such as those 65 years and older, may still be getting vaccinated through March and that officials will need to know how many vaccines that state has allocated to the county before opening up additional appointments to newly eligible groups.
