The Butte County Board of Supervisors sent a letter to the PG&E Fire Victim Trust to ask for lower attorney fees for vulnerable Camp Fire survivors. Also, politicians in the North State are lobbying for a federal bill that would provide tax relief for victims of wildfires, and the National Weather Service is forecasting possible snow in lower elevations in the northern Sacramento Valley.

Chico State open forum | COVID-19 grant funds | Solitary confinement opposition
Chico State held an open forum Thursday for community members to give their feedback on the search for a new university president. Also, some businesses in Shasta County affected by the COVID-19 pandemic are now eligible for grant funding to relieve financial hardship, and a group of state lawmakers and advocacy organizations are trying to limit solitary confinement in California jails, prisons, and immigrant detention facilities.

Housing homeless residents | Fire survivor tax bill | Tribes hold day of action
A delegation from California is in Washington D.C. this week lobbying for a bill that would provide federal tax exemptions for wildfire survivors. Also, the Jesus Center plans to open a new building that will house unhoused families and seniors in June, and Native American tribes from across the state gathered at the state Capitol Tuesday for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Day of Action.
