Safeway on East Avenue temporarily closed | Chico Cat Coalition Moonlight Meows Auction | Prescribed burns planned throughout the North State
A Safeway store in Chico was closed yesterday after structural damage was found inside the store. Also, with their Moonlight Meows Online Auction fundraiser around the corner, the Chico Cat Coalition hopes to raise enough funds to continue helping the local felines for another year, and agencies throughout the region are planning prescribed burns to reduce the risk of devastating wildfires.

Hundreds of students compete at Chico chess tournament | Sycamore Pool closed this week | New conservation nonprofit seeks to remove old fences that kill wildlife
Hundreds of students recently attended a chess tournament in Chico, making it the largest first-tournament in league history.. Also, Sycamore Pool in Bidwell Park will be closed for the next several days, and two Plumas County residents have formed a nonprofit to remove outdated fencing that can entangle and kill migrating wildlife.
