In depth — Chico library shooting and its apparent online ties

A researcher of online extremism says the suspect in the deadly shooting may fit into a newer pattern of violent online communities.

It’s called nihilistic violence, where the goal doesn’t always advance a political or religious cause.

Cody Zoschak studies this growing trend at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue.

He spoke with NSPR’s Andre Byik about his group’s investigation into the apparent online activity of Bradley Scott Sayer.
