The criminal case against the 18-year-old accused of killing two people at Chico's public library has expanded, with prosecutors filing three new attempted murder charges, including two involving children.
Bradley Scott Sayer pleaded not guilty Thursday to the new charges and denied firearm enhancements alleging he intentionally discharged a shotgun.
The amended criminal complaint in Butte County Superior Court identifies one alleged attempted murder victim by name and two children by their initials. Court records show the children are 6 and 4 years old.
Prosecutors allege all three attempted murders were premeditated. The complaint does not indicate whether any of the three alleged victims was injured.
The additional charges had been expected. Shortly after the June shooting, Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said investigators were working to identify potential attempted-murder victims.
Sayer is still charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of Jacob Cody Hull and Robert Johnson.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29, when a judge could decide whether there is enough evidence for the case to move toward trial.
