Rainbow Revolution Summer Camp 2023
Rainbow Revolution Summer Camp was founded by Alicia Trider and Claire Fong as a way to teach kids about important social justice issues.
Rainbow Revolution Summer Camp's curriculum is based on three pillars: social justice education, self-awareness through social and emotional learning, and community collaboration. By partnering with Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and people of color (BILAPOC) in our community, our social justice-based curriculum teaches Butte County youth about the art, accomplishments, contributions, and history of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and people of color (BIPOC), the LGBTQIA+ community, and radical men and women in a safe environment that appeals to a variety of learning modalities.
This group was inspired by the amazing work of the Radical Monarchs in Oakland, CA, and by Fred Hampton’s “Rainbow Coalition” which united different racial and ethnic groups in Chicago, IL in the 1960s to fight against police brutality and racial injustice.
