Federal Aid Available For Valley Fire Victims

Firefighters help a homeowner salvage personal belongings from a home destroyed by the Valley Fire in Lake County.

Federal authorities have established a phone number and website for victims of Lake County’s Valley Fire to register for federal aid.

Housing and other assistance is available. The region was designated a federal disaster area this week, making aid available.

Those seeking federal aid must register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, whether or not they’ve registered with state, local or Red Cross programs.

Those who suffered a loss may register by calling FEMA at 800-621-FEMA. Registration is also available at disasterassistance.gov.
