Local Assistance Center Opens Thursday For Carr Fire Victims

Nearly a dozen government agencies and aid organizations will gather together under a single roof in Redding starting Thursday, aiming to provide answers and get victims of the Carr Fire back on their feet.

Housing assistance, counseling, advice on dealing with home insurers, aid for those who lost their jobs or workplace and information about clearing hazardous material from home sites are among services that will be available.

Representatives from utilities, the State Contractors Licensing Board, the assessor’s office and county vital records will be on hand.

Those seeking help should bring a photo ID, household income information and insurance documents. The DMV will be able to issue duplicate documents for those that lost paperwork in the fire.

The Local Assistance Center is scheduled to open Thursday and operate through August 8th at Shasta High School, located at 2500 Eureka Way. It will be open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. every day.
