The California State University Chancellor’s office this week released a message to all campuses about spring semester planning and proposed modifications in light of the statewide surge in COVID-19 cases.
CSU Chico spokesman Sean Murphy says the administration had anticipated this contingency and has made a final decision about scheduling for winter intersession classes and the 2021 spring semester.
Both will remain mostly online; however, roughly 100-course sessions will involve some in-person activity.Chico State announced Thursday that it is not yet certain if the summer semester will be taught online or on-campus, but that it does anticipate a return to mostly on-campus instruction by the Fall Semester of 2021.
Meanwhile, about 100 special needs students will be accommodated in campus housing, prioritized by need such as housing insecurity, disability, and other extenuating circumstances.
The campus health center will provide COVID testing for these students and will also conduct random surveillance testing. Murphy encourages the campus community to call the COVID-19 hotline for information or to report positive test results. That number is: 530.898.2222
