Vaccinations Pick Up Pace In Trinity County

The pace of COVID-19 vaccinations is picking up in Trinity County. At one point, according to the Los Angeles Times, the county was administering the fewest doses per 100,000 residents in the state.

Trinity, which has a population of about 12,200, is now ranked 55 out of 58. Marcie Jo Cudziol, the county’s public health branch director, said Wednesday that health officials administered about 550 doses at mass vaccination clinics last week.

Prior to those clinics, Cudziol said the county had administered about 130 doses.

“When they released the vaccine back in December, there wasn’t a lot of guidance on the infrastructure around getting it out, and so that was very challenging,” Cudziol said.

Cudziol said the county is working with the state to push out vaccines. She said the state provided access to up to six vaccinators this week to help with the county’s inoculation effort.

She added that the county made 400 slots available for a mass vaccination clinic on Thursday. Those eligible included residents who are 65 years or older, as well as younger people with chronic health conditions.
