Shasta County is asking residents to complete an online survey ahead of the creation of its 5-year strategic plan.

The "Your Voice, our Future" survey is a way for residents to give their thoughts about quality of life in the county, and areas of concern like public safety, housing and the economy.

"Our hope coming out of this … is to align, as a board of supervisors, on three to five priorities that will really drive the agenda of the board for the next five years," said Shasta County District 4 Supervisor Matt Plummer.

Once the goals have been decided, Plummer says the county will form committees to address each one.

They will return to the board with goals and strategies by next spring. Then, the board will finalize the strategic plan.

"We don't have a strategic plan currently, and as far as I know we haven't had one in recent history," Plummer said. "This survey is the first step in that process of getting community input on what their experience in Shasta County is … and what they would like to see us focus on, prioritize, and invest resources in."

The survey will be open through the end of November.
