FAQ: What’s changing at NSPR (and what isn’t)

NSPR is powered by our community, and your support matters now more than ever. With Congress pulling back national funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and with our own transition back to Chico State underway, every donation is crucial.

If you have been a sustaining or evergreen member, we’re grateful to you for reestablishing your monthly gift. If you are considering donating to NSPR for the first time, thank you for joining our community.

Here are answers to the questions we’ve been hearing. We hope they’re helpful.

1. Is NSPR going off the air?

No. NSPR continues to broadcast on all of its current frequencies, and programming will remain the same and uninterrupted.

2. Why is NSPR transitioning back to Chico State?

NSPR is returning to Chico State Enterprises management after ending its operating agreement with CapRadio. This allows the station to be locally run and fully rooted in the North State community again.

3. What happens to my sustaining gift?

All recurring gifts processed through CapRadio automatically ended on November 30, 2025.

You do not need to cancel anything.

4. Do I need to start my sustaining gift again?

Yes. To continue supporting NSPR, you’ll need to set up a new sustaining gift at mynspr.org.

*A note to evergreen members:

Our system is currently unable to accept recurring donations that withdraw directly from your bank account. However, using a debit card has the same effect, with no additional fees charged to you or the station.

If you are accustomed to having your evergreen donation withdrawn straight from your bank account. Your entire donation will benefit NSPR, and you won’t notice the difference.

5. Can I restart my sustaining membership over the phone?

Right now, we cannot set up recurring gifts by phone. Please go to mynspr.org to restart your sustaining membership.

If you need assistance, we can, however, accept one-time donations over the phone during our fund drive. If you would like to donate over the phone, please call 1-833-711-NSPR (6777).

7. Why do I have to set up my gift again?

CapRadio cannot transfer donor credit card information to Chico State for security and privacy reasons. When CapRadio’s billing ended on Nov. 30 all monthly gifts were canceled. You’ll need to create a new sustaining gift through NSPR and Chico State’s system.

8. Will my personal information transfer automatically?

No, payment information will not transfer, but basic donor records (name, mailing address, email) will. Financial data remains secure and does not move between systems.

9. Is NSPR still part of CapRadio?

No. NSPR is completely transitioning out of CapRadio systems and returning to fully local operations.

10. Will programming change?

Day-to-day programming will remain familiar. Over time, our local news, programming and community storytelling will continue to grow as NSPR strengthens and rebuilds its newsroom and content team. NSPR’s editorial decisions remain independent and are guided by our newsroom and station leadership, as always.

11. Who do I contact with questions?

For membership or donation questions email members@mynspr.org or call 1-833-711-NSPR (6777).

For general inquiries: Email news@mynspr.org or call (530)-898-5896

12. Where can I read updates about the transition?

All updates will be posted at mynspr.org.

13. Will NSPR still be available on the website and apps?

Yes. Streaming continues normally at mynspr.org and on all major platforms.

14. Will NSPR still cover local news?

Yes, and more of it. As NSPR rebuilds, listeners will see expanded reporting, quicker updates and stronger community engagement.
