Chico police on Thursday released the name of the man who was fatally shot earlier this week.
Police said he was 24-year-old Kevin Murillo.
Police say they responded Tuesday evening to a reported hit-and-run at West Third and Walnut streets. They found Murillo seated in a vehicle, suffering from gunshot injuries. He died on the scene.An officer minutes later stopped a vehicle at the intersection of West Sacramento and Nord Avenues, police say. Two suspects were detained.
Police said Thursday the identification of two suspects was “pending.”
A public information officer for the department did not respond to questions about whether any arrests have been made, the identification of the suspects and any potential criminal charges.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting were unclear. Police say their investigation remains ongoing.
