How Would A California Wildfire Warning Center Help Prepare The State For Wildfire?

Last week legislation was introduced to establish a statewide network of weather monitoring stations that would help assess the threat of wildfire in California. It was created by Senator Bill Dodd – a Democrat who represents both Sonoma and Napa counties that were devastated by the North Bay wildfires in 2017.

The system would be called the California Wildfire Warning Center and the hope is that it would warn officials and the public about dangerous fire weather conditions before a fire starts. KRCB’s Adia White spoke to Senator Dodd about his initiative. She started by asking about Dodd's reaction to Governor Gavin Newsom’s State of the State address earlier this week, which touched on PG&E’s bankruptcy and how the state will ensure that the utility upholds its obligations.
