Man charged in deadly Oroville bus shooting pleads not guilty
A trial has been scheduled for the Sacramento man charged in a deadly bus shooting that happened in Butte County earlier this year. Butte County Superior Court records show suspect Asaahdi Coleman pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of murder and attempted murder, among other charges. Coleman’s trial is set to begin Jan. 23.

Former PG&E executives to pay $117M to settle lawsuit in 2017, 2018 wildfires
The PG&E Fire Victim Trust announced Thursday that former executives of PG&E have agreed to pay $117 million to settle a lawsuit for damages caused by the 2017 North Bay Fires and 2018 Camp Fire. Since 2017, the utility company has been found at fault for starting more than 30 wildfires, which have killed more than 100 people and destroyed more than 23,000 buildings, according to The Associated Press.

Tenants of Chico apartment complex fear evictions could lead to homelessness
Tenants at the Panama Springs apartment complex in Chico say they were given 90-day eviction notices after the building changed ownership earlier this summer. Many are worried the evictions will put them in danger of becoming homeless. At last week's City Council meeting, Council Member Alex Brown moved to agendize a discussion around Panama Springs and any steps the city could take to protect its residents. The motion failed to receive a second from any other council member.

Homeowners to get tax breaks for swapping out their lawns
A law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday will give tax breaks to homeowners who choose to swap out their lawns as part of a water conservation program. Drought experts in California say residential lawns are one of the main reasons the state struggles with water conservation targets.
