Chico resident Audrey Denney officially announced today that she’ll attempt for a third time to unseat Republican U.S. Congressman Doug LaMalfa in California’s District 1.
In a campaign ad released Monday, Denney criticized Republicans in Washington and called this election a defining moment for democracy.
District 1 has historically been a stronghold for Republicans, but if California voters approve Proposition 50 in November, the district’s boundaries could be redrawn to favor Democrats.
LaMalfa has represented the North State district since 2013. Denney, a Democrat and former agriculture educator, previously ran against him in 2018 and 2020.
