Traveling from Las Vegas for the occasion, former Sacramento native Dr. Beverly Wesner-Hoehn and Sacramento Philharmonic flutist Elizabeth Coronata comprise the Spring Bloom Duo. They will celebrate the CapRadio Garden setting with a performance of Hovhaness’s Garden of Adonis in full. You will also hear a very special harp commissioned by the U.S. Air Force!
In the words of Dr. Beverly Wesner-Hoehn:
As our name rotates with the seasons, we are known as: Winter Moon Duo, or Spring Bloom Duo, or the Fall Apart Duo of the pandemic last year (which was supposed to be Fall Colors); and now, in this hottest season of sun-filled days, we are the Summer Serenade Duo; Privileged to play in the garden of Cap Public Radio's new concert series in 2021, we met while performing with the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra back in 2003, under the baton of Dr. Donald Kendrick and we haven’t stopped working together since. Featured today are two stellar, creative works for harp and flute that allow time for thoughtful study, a few smiles, and much enrichment. Our wish is that you will enjoy these musical summer gifts: the Hovahness Garden of Adonis, short meditative movements representing souls reawakening in a floral garden; and Rutter's Suite Lyrique, a charming, surprising suite, with some energetic dance-like themes included. Listen well, with our gratitude, as we return to in-person performances for the public soon! Liz and Bev
