Shasta County Native Megan Rapino Scores In World Cup

Palo Cedro native Megan Rapinoe scored twice Monday night as the United States Women’s World Cup Soccer team beat Australia by a score of 3-1 in the team’s opener in Winnipeg, Canada. Christen Press also scored for the U.S., which is seeking its third World Cup title. Rapinoe, a graduate of Foothill High School, and the rest of the team next face Sweden on Friday.

Kelly is a graduate of Chabot Junior College in Hayward, California. After nearly 25 years in commercial radio, Kelly arrived in Redding and joined North State Public Radio first as a volunteer. He began covering Redding City Council meetings and other local events and was eventually hired as KFPR's Redding news reporter.
