Suspect On The Loose In Fatal Trinity County Shooting

One man was shot dead and another injured in a shooting Monday afternoon in Trinity County.

According to the Redding Record Searchlight, the incident occurred in Mad River, just north of Highway 36 in southwestern Trinity County about 17 miles southwest of Hayfork.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene about 4:30 p.m. and while en route, dispatchers received word of an active shooter in the area.

Upon arrival, deputies found the two men with gunshot wounds. Medics took one to a local hospital and pronounced the other man dead.

Despite a search Monday, the suspect has yet to be located. Deputies did, however, find a car they believe to be linked to the shooting.

The Trinity County Sheriff's Office described a suspect they are seeking as having a dark complexion, about 30 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and about 160 to 175 pounds with dark short curly hair. He goes by the name Scotty and deputies warn he should be considered armed and dangerous.
