Health officials are urging Californians to get their flu shot this year – and to get it early.
According to a recent press release from the California Department of Public Health, the flu causes millions of illnesses and thousands of deaths across the nation each year.
CDPH reports that last year 78 people under the age of 65 died from a flu-related illness in California alone.
The release states that getting a yearly vaccination is the most reliable way to protect yourself from getting the flu, as well as the best way from spreading it to others.
Because a person who has the flu can infect others before any signs of the sickness show up, CDPH recommends getting a flu vaccine as soon as it’s available.
Local health departments in most North State counties have clinics scheduled were residents can get free or low cost flu shots. A full schedule of upcoming walk in and drive-thru clinics is below.
