One person and a dog were killed in a residential fire that occurred Wednesday morning in Biggs.
Firefighters arriving on the scene reported light smoke rising from a single-family home. The fire was reported at 10 a.m. Wednesday. A person was located in the home. Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.
The home, on the 2400 block of West Biggs Gridley Road, sustained an estimated $50,000 in damage. The victim’s name is being withheld by authorities pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
