Activists wishing to secede from California and form a 51st state are rallying at the Capitol in Sacramento Wednesday morning.
The group, Shingle Springs based-State of Jefferson Formation, is seeking to form Jefferson out of parts of Northern California and Southern Oregon. The group complains that the largely rural area is under-represented and discounted in their respective state capitals.
The event was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on the west steps of the Capitol building.
