State Highway 299 remains closed in both directions at Big French Creek near Del Loma in Trinity County due to a major rockslide. This morning, Caltrans said engineers and workers have a big job ahead of them, requiring stabilizing a hillside and extensive excavation and blasting away of debris. Caltrans said it does not anticipate being able to re-open 299 until next Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. Motorists are urged to use alternative routes, including Highways 3 and 36.
