District 1 Congressman Doug LaMalfa and congressional hopeful Max Steiner are facing off to represent much of the North State this November. This Thursday they’ll be participating in an online candidate forum.

The event is being organized by the League of Women Voters of Butte County. Carol Burr, voter service volunteer for the nonprofit, said the tone will be a civil discussion rather than a debate

“It's a two-minute opening, two minutes for questions, two minutes for closing and we want to do it in an hour,” Burr said.

The forum will be combined with another that includes state assemblyman James Gallagher and assembly hopeful David Zink who are vying for District 3, which covers the northern Sacramento Valley.

“What we want to do is give voters access to the candidates, and let the candidates sort of show what they know,” Burr said.

The Gallagher and Zink forum will begin at 7 p.m. The LaMalfa and Steiner forum will follow at approximately 8 p.m.
