The Butte County Sheriff’s Office has issued an evacuation warning for three evacuation zones in the Oroville and Forbestown area due to a fire.

Zones currently under an evacuation warning are 831, 685, and 686.

The Quincy Fire started at 1:13 p.m. and is currently 100 acres in size.

The fire is located off of View Crest Drive and Old Olive Highway.

Cal Fire initially reported the fire was moving at a dangerous rate of speed. Public Information Officer Jake Gilliam later told NSPR that the fire is moving at a moderate rate of speed.

He said the fire is in steep terrain with difficult access, but said aircraft are on the scene. Gilliam said they’re doing a “fantastic” job of keeping the fire in check.

Firefighters are also on the ground and actively engaging in the flanks for the fire.

Gilliam said the fire is not currently threatening any structures.
