Hundreds of people gathered in downtown Chico on Saturday to protest President Donald Trump and his administration’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
The protest was part of a quickly formed movement called “ICE Out For Good,” a nationwide event sparked by the killing of 37-year-old Renee Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
Good, a U.S. citizen, was fatally shot by an ICE officer as agents were conducting a targeted enforcement operation, according to the Homeland Security Department. Good was accused of trying to ram agents with her car. Footage of the shooting has cast doubt on that account.
On Thursday, Customs and Border Protection agents shot and injured two people in Portland, Oregon, NPR reported, renewing scrutiny over the use of force by federal immigration authorities.
The demonstration in Chico saw people carrying signs lamenting Good’s death and criticizing Trump and his administration’s hardline immigration policies.
Here’s what it looked like.
