Dave talks to his metaphorical sister -- Jennifer Jewell, the host of Cultivating Place, which is also produced from North State Public Radio. Dave and Jennifer both began their broadcasting and podcasting careers on public radio at the same time and place and are longtime friends and supporters of one another. Jennifer Jewell has been compared to Krista Tippett, the host of On Being, but her purview is the world of gardening and the love of all things botanical.

Nevertheless, Jewell approaches the art and science of growing good things with a spiritual worldview that puts the world of plants into a planetary perspective. Her new book, The Earth In Her Hands: 75 Women Working in The World of Plants, is a wonderful set of biographical sketches of women around the world making a difference by making our world a greener place. Dave and Jennifer talk not just about the book but also about the confluence of art, science and all things that grow on our pale blue dot that is fortunately tinged with green!
