Host Dave Schlom investigates two of the components that make up most of the universe -- dark matter and dark energy. While their effects are measurable, their nature remains essentially a mystery.
Dave is joined by one of the world's foremost astronomers, Dr. Wendy Freedman, from the University of Chicago, for a primer on dark matter and dark energy. Then Jet Propulsion Laboratory scientist Eric Huff, a member of the European Space Agency's Euclid Mission US/NASA team, joins us to talk about the upcoming mission.
Set to launch this summer, Euclid will attempt to unravel the mysteries of these two elusive threads in the fabric of space and time. It's a probe into the real dark side of the cosmos!
