Host Dave Schlom visits with guests from River Partners, a conservation organization born of a vision of farmers with conservation interests who sought more of a cooperative rather than confrontational approach to watershed restoration projects.
First up, River Partners President Julie Rentner gives us background on the history and approach of the organization, which has projects throughout the state. Then Associate Director of Restoration Science Michael Rogner is joined by his colleague, Senior Restoration Ecologist Mike Davis, to talk about the scientific approach they use in their work to rehabilitate riparian corridors.
Rogner and Davis then go on to describe two of River Partners' projects, the Dos Rios Preserve in the San Joaquin Valley (which is going to be California's newest state park) and Willow Bend Preserve in the Sacramento Valley, a model for salmon recovery efforts. It's an uplifting and fascinating take on science-based solutions that really work!
