Blue Dot marks three years of operation of the magnificent James Webb Space Telescope. NASA Webb Project Manager Mike Davis joins host Dave Schlom for an overview of the telescope's operation and unique capabilities that have surpassed the expectations of the astronomical community.

Then, NASA Webb Project Scientist for Operations Knicole Colón joins us to discuss her role and the fascinating science coming out of Webb's observations of exoplanets.

Finally, Dave is joined by ESA astronomer Macarena Garcia Marin, Webb Project Scientist and Deputy Project Director at the Space Telescope Science Institute to talk about Webb's observations of the most distant galaxies ever detected and the fascinating implications they have for our modern understanding of the cosmos.

Dave Schlom is the longtime host and creator of Blue Dot. From surfing to Voyager in interstellar space, rock guitar to orcas in our imperiled oceans, the topics on Blue Dot are as varied as the host’s interests and connections -- which are pretty limitless! An internationally respected space history journalist, Dave is also deeply fascinated by all aspects of the grand workings of nature’s awesome machinery on scales ranging from galactic to subatomic. And topics take in all aspects of the arts and sciences.
