Upper Ridge Community Plan formally adopted

The Butte County Board of Supervisors last week formally adopted the Upper Ridge Community Plan. The plan is part of the county’s general plan and lists strategies to improve utilities, housing, community centers and public recreational spaces.

April snow survey to take place today

California’s fourth snow survey of the season will take place at Phillips Station at 11 a.m. today. The Department of Water Resources reports it will be measuring water content in the snow pack to gather information about the future of California’s water supply.

Yurok Tribe sues to protect salmon in the Klamath Basin

The Yurok Tribe and other organizations filed a preliminary injunction in late March to halt water deliveries to farmers in the North State and parts of Oregon. According to The Capital Press, the injunction is part of a 2019 lawsuit filed against the Bureau of Reclamation and the National Marine Fisheries Services for alleged failure to protect engaged species.

Tribes call on lawmakers to address opioid crisis

Tribal leaders throughout California say the fentanyl crisis is having profound effects on their communities. Leaders from some of California’s around 100 reservations and rancherias said they need more resources — like regional treatment programs, enhanced law enforcement and widespread education of fentanyl’s dangers.
