The new Yuba City Year Round Farmers Market opens its doors Wednesday afternoon. It will be the only year-round farmers market in the area.

Market Manager Lacie Robertson says it’s the ability to grow an abundance of crops throughout all seasons that prompted her to launch the year round venture.

“There’s a lot of produce that farmers are able to grow in the fall winter and very early spring such as mandarins, oranges, cabbages, sugar snap peas and there’s not really a market for certified farmers to bring their produce to unless you go to Auburn, Chico or Sacramento,” she said.

Robertson says there will be about nine vendors at Wednesday’s grand opening who will be selling locally grown produce, crafts and food. She says it should be a fun kick-off. All those who show up will receive a raffle ticket to be entered to win $10 in market bucks that can be spent at any vendor during their next market visit.

The new farmers market will be located in Yuba City on the north corner of Wilbur and C streets across from the Gauche Aquatic Park. It will be open every Wednesday – rain or shine – from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
