René Laloux’s Fantastic Planet tells an allegorical tale of humans residing on an alien world ruled by massive extraterrestrials who treat them as mere animals. This time, the cult classic is being presented in a completely fresh way. The ambient jazz electronica group THC.XLR from Seattle is providing a brand-new live soundtrack to accompany the surreal animated film.

NorCal is set to highlight its local indie music talent at the upcoming 599 Fest in Redding and Chico. This two-day event will showcase a lineup of 18 bands from both city's local scenes, celebrating the last 30 years of indie music in the North State. Featured performers include The Shimmies, Raised on Candy, Kid Cops, Bloodsugar, Not Your Babe and Surrogate.

Listen Up House Concerts kicks off its new season with the soulful, gritty voice of Americana singer-songwriter Noah Guthrie. This year, Listen Up House Concerts continues its mission to bring high-quality music to an intimate setting for many to enjoy. Entry is donation based and attendees must register for events in order to receive the venue's address.

Doobies & Boobies: A 420 Themed Variety Show

Light up! It’s time to immerse yourself in the Doobies & Boobies experience, a high-energy variety show that pays tribute to 420 culture.
The performance features a diverse lineup, including a 420-themed pole-dancing experience, drag, burlesque, aerial arts and fire acts. The creators aim to captivate all the senses and the show delivers a blend of humor and passion.

Dog owners and lovers unite at the fourth-annual Woofstock. The Butte Humane Society's festival and fundraiser is a day of music, pups and philanthropy.
Several local musical performances will take the stage, including Max Minardi, Off the Record and H is 4 Hector. There are also many food options, including Nemo’s Rice Plate, Tacos Los Serranos and Tom Tom's Island Style. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the good vibes.

We hope you’re ready for colorful skies. The Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) is hosting its annual Kite Day this Sunday after last weekend's storms. Bring the family and enjoy a day filled with kite flying, delicious food trucks and children's activities. Free kites will be provided while supplies last, so be sure to bring your own if you have one.
