Host Dave Schlom revisits a conversation about one of his favorite things in life: dogs. British Author Jules Howard joins the host of Blue Dot to talk about his latest book, Wonderdog: The Science of Dogs and Their Unique Friendship with Humans.
The history of canine science is filled with familiar names like Darwin and Pavlov, but there are many more fascinating and, at times, disturbing tales of how dogs have been used in scientific research. From evolution and physiology to cognition, dogs have played a central role in our understanding of them and ourselves.
Fortunately, modern science has turned to much kinder methods that have unlocked some of the mysteries of why dogs, indeed, seem to love us. While Howard is a trained scientist, he has also reached the conclusion that there is indeed, a deep and, at times, mysterious bond of love between humans and our furry friends.
