Author Phil Elkins offers details of his yearlong tour of duty in Vietnam. His work, My Year in Vietnam, gives a vivid picture from the first plane takeoff to seeing the plane's cargo hold loaded with GIs in caskets.

Also, Chico author Walt Schafer reminds runners of the upcoming 48th Annual Almond Bowl, a Chico tradition he founded.
