Nancy's Bookshelf: Two local historians tell stories that begin in 1861

Red Bluff author and Civil War reenactor Rick Barram takes us back to the beginning of the American Civil War with "Dear Uncles: The Civil War Letters of Arthur McKinstry, a Soldier in the Excelsior Brigade."

Also, Chico historian Michele Shover tells the story of Gus and Sarah Chapman, for whom a section of Chico, Calif., is named in her book, "Chico's Chapmans."

Nancy Wiegman has a master's degree in French linguistics from Indiana University and taught yoga and foreign languages at CSU Fresno and the College of Charleston before moving to Chico in 1990.
