ARToberfest Opening Reception

Chico’s month-long festival for the arts kicks off with an opening reception in the alley between Hotel Diamond and the Salem Street parking structure. Local favorite Jonathan Richman will be on site with his guitar for everyone to enjoy.

You can also join in at the interactive drawing station if you want to make some art. When you buy a drink, you’ll be supporting the Chico Arts Commission.

(Mock) Cat Show

The annual (Mock) Cat Show has returned, showcasing artwork focused entirely on cats across all mediums and styles. All submissions were accepted, and cats from all walks of life are on display.

Proceeds from entry fees directly support the Chico Cat Coalition in rescuing and caring for abandoned felines.

The Aquabats

The Aquabats, known for their whimsical ska-punk style and superhero outfits, have been around for over 30 years. They’ll be joined by Fast Movers, Sullvn, and CJ Ramone, the Ramones’ last bass player.

Love Mischief

Sacramento's Love Mischief is bringing their blend of funk, jazz and soft rock to town. The group blends everything from country to blues and metal.

Vita Nova Entertainment: Vocal Seminar

  • Inspire School of Arts
  • Friday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 4
  • 5 p.m. & 10 a.m.
  • $50-$125

Vita Nova Entertainment’s Chriscielle Birr and Kendra Jean will co-direct a vocal seminar at the Inspire School of Arts, in collaboration with local musical director and teacher Olivia Cerullo.

They’ll cover a range of topics including voice anatomy and healthy technique, vocal styling, stage presence, and live recording.


MOVE + MAKE + EXPLORE

NorCal Roller Derby Team vs Peninsula Roller Derby Team

On Saturday, the team will be decked out in full pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in their match up against Peninsula Roller Derby from the Bay Area.

Don’t miss the first bout at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds on Saturday.

Downtown Chico Oktoberfest

A selection of Chico bars is hosting an Oktoberfest celebration downtown. Join Argus Bar and Patio, The Banshee and B Street for the first of two Oktoberfest celebrations, craft beer, live music and delicious food. (The next one is Oct. 17.)

Music will be provided by Lorna & Samaria, DJ Amburgers and more. Plus, there will be raffle prizes!

Funtober Fest
