Rail posts burn along Highway 36 as the Park Fire spreads near Paynes Creek in Tehama County, Calif., on Friday, July 26, 2024.

The fire continues to near 400,000 acres. Today Cal Fire said during a press conference that most areas of the fire are holding well. Right now the northeast side of the perimeter, near the Mill Creek area, is the main concern as a change in the weather continues today. Critical weather conditions are expected and officials say they’ve been getting prepared.

Also, a local assistance center is being set up for Park Fire survivors. It opens Monday. Director of Butte County Behavioral Health, Scott Kennelly, talks about the resources his department will have at the center.

And this week the fire prompted evacuations in four North State counties. We hear from evacuees about their experience and what they returned home to in the wake of the fire.
